While their Maple Leafs have struggled to make the NHL playoffs in recent years, the Toronto Bulldogs continue their domination at the novice level.
The pint-sized hockey players buzzed around in their yellow and blue jerseys Sunday and stung the Detroit Red Wings 4-0 in the championship gold-medal game of the 23rd annual Brick Invitational Super Novice Hockey Tournament. It was the Bulldogs’ second consecutive win at the 14-team tournament held at the West Edmonton Mall Ice Palace. The Bulldogs have shown their dominance in previous years, but tournament chair Craig Styles said the youngsters raised the bar several notches this summer. “This year’s Bulldog team was at a level above the others. They had two solid scoring lines, a shutdown third line and defence that would not let the puck get to the net,” Styles said as the tournament closed. The Bulldogs, who went 6-0 in tournament play and 2-0 in the playoffs. Cam Tait, Edmonton Journal, Monday July 9, 2012.
